Multi-Tool Web Accessibility Testing
with Standardized Reporting
Course Outline
Do you want to automate some of your web accessibility testing? This course teaches you how to leverage multiple tools at once for the most comprehensive and economical defect discovery.
There are many free or nearly free tools to choose from. Each tool discovers accessibility defects that the other tools overlook. If you use only one tool, you lose much of the benefit of automated testing. As tool makers keep improving their products with new algorithms and artificial intelligence, the rewards of multi-tool testing can be expected to grow.
You will learn to use a combination of 8 tools:
- alfa from Siteimprove
- Axe-core from Deque
- Equal Access from IBM
- HTML CodeSniffer from Squiz Labs
- Nu Html Checker from the World Wide Web Consortium
- QualWeb from the University of Lisbon
- Testaro from CVS Health
- WAVE from WebAIM
Among them, they perform about 650 tests.
To make multi-tool testing practical, you will use software that automates and standardizes the process and generates human-friendly reports.* The work in this course will not require technical expertise, but if you have it you can put it to use creating custom tests or contributing to improvements in the multi-tool testing software.
Individual and group work will be possible. If you do not bring your own computer, you should expect to work with somebody who does.
