Access Ready Inclusion can't wait

AccessReady

What If ?

What if? The accessibility features of information and communications technology (ICT) products and services didn't cost developers anything?

What if? Maintaining the accessibility of ICT didn't cost developers anything?

What if? Developers could get paid for including the accessibility of ICT? So it ended up costing nothing?

What if? End users could upgrade the ICT they use while costing them nothing?

What if? People with disabilities were employed to verify accessibility while costing developers nothing?

What if? Accessibility experts got paid while costing developers nothing?

What if? The excuse that accessibility costs too much simply went away?

There is a Strategy.

In this demo, Josh McClure from Deque Systems reviewed the axe tool suite to help accessibility testers expand their testing coverage with axe DevTools and maintain compliance and reporting in production with axe Monitor. These tools test for accessibility throughout the software development lifecycle and reduce the resources needed for manual testing.

Specifically, he reviewed how accessibility testing coverage (of the average number of accessibility issues) can increase to 80% with the power of Human-Centric AI and Intelligent Guided Tests (IGTs) in axe DevTools in Development. He also review how your team can monitor and scan your site to stay compliant and improve reporting capabilities with axe Monitor.

Standard Accessibility Reporting, Inc. (SAR)

How do you currently tell your customers their level of success for accessibility? "Compliant"? "84.5%"? "B+"? "Quite Good"?

We have come to the conclusion that if there is no consistent scoreboard, there's no way to identify who is winning and who is losing in the accessibility game. For the average consumer, that means little to no information on how accessible something is before they buy it. For the enterprise-wide purchasing agent, that means that all VPATs look the same ("The VPAT's filled in, so this must be an accessible product, right?!").

We are a new nonprofit member organization, and we're changing things up for websites, mobile apps, consumer technology products, and more. In this engaging talk, we tell you how we're developing a brand new (but long, long overdue) standard scoring and reporting system, and how you and your company can be involved in the process.
